Undergraduate Enrollment

Undergraduate enrollment at nonprofit institutions, both public and private, in the West increased by 11 percent in the past decade, with most of the increases occurring between 2007 and 2010. Since 2010, strong enrollment increases at public and private four-year institutions have offset decreased enrollment at public, two-year institutions in the West. High school graduating classes have become more diverse over the last decade (from 47 percent non-white in 2007-08 to 56 percent in 2017-18). And during the same time period, undergraduate enrollment diversified as well (from 51 percent non-white to 60 percent non-white).
