Dakota State University

DSU remains one of the few universities in the nation that provides students with the cutting-edge technology needed to excel in any career. Our curriculum infuses critical thinking, hands-on training, individualized attention, and collaboration into the classroom so that our students graduate with skills that set them apart in the real world. On top of it all, we celebrate and reward innovation, creativity, and growth. If you’re looking to transfer to a school that better fits your needs, we’ll make sure your experience gets the credit it deserves. No matter where you stand in your college journey, DSU is the place to complete it.

Interstate Passport

This example of a Passport Block was developed by faculty at Dakota State University. This member profile was developed as an example of how learning outcome-based transfer can be mapped onto a general education curriculum. The Interstate Passport program sunset at the end of 2023, and each member institution has different policies regarding their ongoing transfer relationships. The publication of their Passport Block is a part of the evergreen resources managed by WICHE to serve as an example and should not indicate any current or ongoing transfer relationships. For more information about transfer at Dakota State University please see their website at https://dsu.edu/.

Passport Block

Students who complete Dakota State’s Passport Block with a minimum grade of “C” or its equivalent in each course or learning experience will be awarded the Passport by DSU. Those students who later transfer with a Passport to another Network-member institution will have their learning recognized; they will not have to repeat or take additional courses to satisfy lower-division general education requirements in the Passport’s nine areas.

For students the Interstate Passport program offers:

  • An early milestone on the way to a credential
  • Knowledge that lower-division general education learning in the Passport’s nine areas will be recognized upon transfer to a Network member institution
  • A streamlined transfer process and greater likelihood of successful completion
  • The potential for faster time to degree, lower cost, and less debt
