The University of Nevada, Reno, established in 1874 as the flagship, land-grant research institution, enrolls 20,000 students and offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in 270 areas through its 13 colleges and schools. The University’s academic programs coordinate with a network of student support services to ensure each student has the opportunity to achieve their academic and personal goals. The University’s faculty and researchers garnered $182 million in externally sponsored grants and contracts, including $124 million in research awards, in the 2020 fiscal year. Over its 50 years, the School of Medicine has prepared more than 1,800 physicians for service in the fields of primary and specialty care and medical research. The University is located in Reno/Sparks, a vital community of 450,000 in the Truckee Meadows, providing easy access to urban amenities as well as outdoor adventure in pristine desert and alpine environments.
