The University of Arizona (UA) is the state's land-grant university and is a member of the AAU. It is an R1 (Highest Research University) with two medical schools, a new School of Veterinary Medicine, and is in the NSF’s top 21 for research funding. The UA has 35,261 undergraduate students and 10,003 Graduate and Professional students. The Graduate College offers nearly 500 graduate programs in 180 academic departments, including 18 special Graduate Interdisciplinary Programs (GIDPs).
