David Weiss

Dean of University College, University of New Mexico

David Weiss, Ph.D., is dean of university college at the University of New Mexico. In that role, he collaborates with the leaders of each of UNM’s colleges and schools on a variety of student-success initiatives. Previously, Weiss served as chair of UNM’s Communication & Journalism Department and as a faculty member at Montana State University-Billings and Mount Union College. Before returning to academia, Weiss was a senior executive at several New York City-based global advertising agencies. He holds a B.A. in psychology from Cornell University, a M.A. in journalism from the University of Oregon, and a Ph.D. in communication from the University of New Mexico.
