Kauaʻi Community College

Kaua‘i Community College is a Hawaiian-serving Institution and the only institution of higher education in the County of Kaua‘i. Kaua‘i is the northernmost island of the eight major Hawaiian islands and is separated from Honolulu, the capital and main population and business center of the state, by 100 miles of the Pacific Ocean. Travel to any of the other islands is primarily by air. Ni‘ihau is a privately owned island, also located in the County of Kaua‘i, which is accessible only by boat and helicopter. It is home to the state’s largest concentration of people who learned Hawaiian as their first language. The College houses a University Center, which broadens the educational opportunities of island-bound residents by supporting distance education baccalaureate and graduate programs from sister UH campuses. This allows residents to further their education without leaving the island.

Interstate Passport

This example of a Passport Block was developed by faculty at Kaua‘i Community College. This member profile was developed as an example of how learning outcome-based transfer can be mapped onto a general education curriculum. The Interstate Passport program sunset at the end of 2023, and each member institution has different policies regarding their ongoing transfer relationships. The publication of their Passport Block is a part of the evergreen resources managed by WICHE to serve as an example and should not indicate any current or ongoing transfer relationships. For more information about transfer at Kaua‘i Community College please see their website at https://www.kauai.hawaii.edu/interstate-passport.
