East Los Angeles College

Founded in 1945 and nestled in Monterey Park, California, East Los Angeles College is the largest of nine, two-year community colleges within the Los Angeles Community College District. In 2019-2020, ELAC was ranked #1 in the nation for Total Enrollment of Hispanic Students at a 2-year college by Hispanic Outlook on Education magazine, and finished #13 in the nation for total Associate Degrees granted to Hispanic/Latinx students. In 2021, ELAC was identified as one of a very small group of finalists for the college’s accomplishment in advancing diversity and equity for the students of the California Community Colleges, and prides itself in being home to the Vincent Price Art Museum, making it the only community college on the West Coast to host a major art collection on campus, to date.

Interstate Passport

This example of a Passport Block was developed by faculty at East Los Angeles College. This member profile was developed as an example of how learning outcome-based transfer can be mapped onto a general education curriculum. The Interstate Passport program sunset at the end of 2023, and each member institution has different policies regarding their ongoing transfer relationships. The publication of their Passport Block is a part of the evergreen resources managed by WICHE to serve as an example and should not indicate any current or ongoing transfer relationships. For more information about transfer at East Los Angeles College please see their website at https://www.elac.edu/student-services/transfer-center/planning/interstate-passport.
