Congratulations to the 2026 Bernice Joseph Leadership Award Winner

The Western Alliance of Community College Academic Leaders hosted its annual meeting April 15-17 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The meeting’s theme was “Leading the Resilient Community College.” Nearly 50 senior academic leaders from across the WICHE region gathered on the Laramie County Community College campus to discuss topics pertinent to today’s community and technical colleges, including artificial intelligence, career readiness, micro-pathways, budget strategies, and more.

At every annual meeting, the Alliance presents the Bernice Joseph Leadership Award. This year’s award was presented to Phil Lister, Dean of Math, Science, and Engineering, and Angie Alley, Associate Dean of Math, Science, and Engineering, at Central New Mexico Community College, for their work in leading a comprehensive initiative to transform math access and success.
