Accountability
Accountability has evolved from a hot-button topic to an important strategic-planning tool for our states, one that's more or less useful depending on its design. Accountability in higher ed is a natural extension of K-12 accountability and, like it, has been driven by a shift in public policy that places an increased focus on performance rather than effort.
