The webcast provided an overview of tutoring and the implications
for moving learning support services to the online environment.
The discussion explores various online tutoring models, the evolution
of tutoring services toward more complex web-based learning support
services, development of program based online tutoring, and underlying
technological principles and requirements around which such services
can be built.
Mike Tagawa is Dean of Health/Legal Programs, Library/Learning
Resources, and Technology Services at Kapi`olani Community College
in Honolulu, Hawaii. He earned an MA in Geography and is an ACE
Fellow. In addition to traditional credit programs, Mike manages
program-based student services, learning support services, and continuing
education. His scope of responsibilities include delivery of credit
and non-credit programs via off-campus sites and various distance
learning technologies.
