| After a prospective student
has been informed about institutional navigation and how to matriculate
(tutoring) and before an academic advising session, s/he must be entered
into the student records system in some manner. This usually means
they have been given the directions to “apply.” Applications are important
in that they allow a prospect to be recognized as “applicant” or “student”
on the systems. These different status determinations allow prospects
to move from being outside an institution to being inside. Indeed,
status on the student records system determines what access is allowed
at what stage of entry, and when and how access to “student services”
begins.
These functions will be automated through our scenarios:
1. Students will be able to determine themselves if their admissions
file is complete.
|
This means in Undergraduate programs that
the Application Form is filled out, and in Graduate and SHCP that
all components of the application file have been submitted, i.e.,
letter of recommendation, transcripts, etc. This is necessary before
they can set up an advising session. The first set of scenarios queries
the system as to the admissions file status.
2. The second set of scenarios allow the student whose file is
complete how to get his library card and access to a RegisNet account.
Students in SPS undergraduate division can begin class before formal
acceptance. Hence the need for Library access at the start. The
RegisNet account will allow students to apply for e-mail on the
Regis system but will also allow them access to vital information
about their academic programs that is specifically for Regis students.
3. The third set of scenarios prompts the student to make an advising
appointment.
