PURPOSE of the web site
This is an "on-line file" that will store documentation of skills that you are developing, recognizing, tracking and learning to articulate throughout your university experience. You may use this site to continually document the "outcomes" from your college education.
Your "on-line file" allows you to document abilities and skills in several important areas while you are attending the university. These are areas consistently identified by colleges, universities, and employers, as vital to entry into many career paths. These areas are also important to continue to develop throughout your life to insure career satisfaction.
Through this web site, you will learn to identify and describe your best demonstration of each skill area. Your "on-line file" may be updated as often as you like (we suggest at least every term!) and is quite handy when you begin to create resumes and cover letters. Just print your file and bring it with you to the Career Center!
HOW to use the web site
The orientation of this web site is pretty simple. If you click here, you will jump forward to a list of cultural and professional skills. From this page, you can double click on any skill to submit an entry which describes your present, best example of each specific skill. On your first visit to each skill site, set your "bench mark," or a beginning point (don't worry if it seems too low!). Later, return to the sites to describe better examples and hopefully watch your skill areas grow!
