Brigham Young University’s “Comprehensive Student Planning System” connects financial, academic, and career planning. Based on an individual student’s profile, it helps students define and plan their educational goals. Brigham Young University has authorized access to a demonstration site that allows you to view its Comprehensive Student Planning System. (See http://ar.byu.edu/gary/vista/ ) Simply hit “Submit” to enter the site.
The
AIM Student Information System provides separate registration methods
for freshmen and upperclassmen. It also enables a student to develop and
update his/her own academic plan to graduation and review the history of all
courses taken. All needed planning information is provided in one place, and
the student has live, real-time access to information on course
availability.
“Creating
a Financial Path to Graduation” is a student self-help guide to assess
the financial aid resources necessary to complete school. Unfortunately, all
aspects of this tool cannot be veiwed on the BYU demonstration site.
However, select the Financial Planning link in the navigation bar to
get an idea of its purpose.
Interactive
self-help tools help students with career planning. Tools include “The
Realities of Work,” which lets students estimate future salaries and test
interviewing skills; a GPA calculator that allows “what if” scenarios;
“From College to Career,” which relates majors to potential careers; and
a “Career Choice Game.” (Brigham Young University).
A related, interactive self-help site is related to instruction and educational goals. It includes, among other tools, “Test-Taking Strategies,” which offers tips and provides a practice test online, and an interactive tool on “Lifestyle Management,” which allows students to assess their college lifestyle as well as to evaluate their weekly schedule and their ability to manage time.
