ACE. (Automated Course Exchange) Indiana University also has an electronic waitlist system as part of its registration process. (Note, however, that Web registration is not yet provided at Indiana, which is currently using a touch-tone registration system.) The ACE enables students who encounter a closed section of a course to be placed on an automated wait list. After a course section is closed, an automated waitlist is created. The first person to activate a waitlist request for that section is placed at the top of the waitlist. When a seat becomes available in the section, the first person on the waitlist is registered for the course and is notified via email that registration has occurred. If the waitlist is not satisfied, the student receives a rain check for priority registration for the following semester.
