Occidental draws students from 44 states, Guam, Washington, D.C., and 18 foreign countries. Most students rank in the upper 10-15 percent of their high school classes. The Admission Committee looks for a strong high school course of study and recommends four years of English composition and literature, three years of a foreign language, three years of mathematics (four years for students interested in science or engineering), three years of social studies, and two years of laboratory science.
Deadlines
Regular Decision - January 15 Students enter Oxy in the fall semester. Students should hear about their admission around April 1.
Early Decision - November 15 Students enter Oxy in the fall semester. Students should hear about their admission by December 15. The Early Decision Program is binding - if a student is accepted under Early Decision, they are required to attend Occidental in the Fall.
For both deadlines, the FAFSA Financial Aid form needs to be completed by February 1. For Early Decision applicants, the PROFILE form must be registered by November 15 so that a preliminary financial aid award can be sent with an admission packet.
