NASA
Classroom Of The Future
The Classroom of the Future (COTF) program is helping to bridge
the gap between America's classrooms and the expertise of NASA
scientists, who have advanced the frontiers of knowledge in
virtually every field of science over the last forty years.
The COTF serves as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's
(NASA's) premier research and development program for educational
technologies. In this capacity the COTF develops and conducts
research on technology-based learning materials that challenge
students to solve problems by using datasets and other information
resources provided by the four strategic enterprises of NASA:
Aeronautics and Space Transportation, Human Exploration and
Development of Space, Earth Science Enterprise, and Space Sciences.
NASA Education Program
NASA's Education homepage serves as the cyber-gateway to
information regarding educational programs and services offered
by NASA for educators and students across the United States.
This high-level directory of information provides specific details
and points of contact for all of NASA's educational efforts
and Field Center Offices. Educators and students utilizing this
site will have access to a comprehensive overview of NASA's
educational programs and services, along with a searchable program
inventory that has cataloged NASA's educational programs. NASA's
on-line resources specifically designed for the educational
community are highlighted, as well as home pages offered by
NASA's four areas of research and development (including the
Aero-Space Technology, Earth Science, Human Exploration and
Development of Space, and Space Science Enterprises).
NASA
Regional Educator Resource Center (NASA RERC)
Throughout its more than 25 years history, the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has shared its pioneering
research in science and technology with educators. Recently,
NASA expanded its program of sharing by establishing Educator
Resource Centers (ERCs) at NASA's main research facilities (Ames,
Dryden, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Goddard, Kennedy, Johnson,
Langley, Lewis, Stennis) and at Regional Educator Resource Centers(RERCs)
across the United States. The total number of centers is now
approximately sixty. They serve as resource desks for K-12 educators
interested in bringing to their classrooms cutting-edge materials
to the U.S. Space Program.
ThinkQuest
ThinkQuest provides free professional development workshops
to help teachers learn to use the Web, integrate the ThinkQuest
Library of Entries into their classes, and be effective coaches
for the Contest. The workshops are held in cooperation with
Global SchoolNet Foundation. There are listing of workshop dates
and locations and useful tips and hints on the web site. Advanced
Network& services, Inc., the creator and operator of ThinkQuest,
is dedicated to advancing education by accelerating the use
of computer network applications and technology.
