About WICHE and WICHE ICE
The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) is a regional organization created to facilitate resource sharing among the higher education systems of the West. Since 1953, the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education’s (WICHE) student exchange programs have provided affordable education opportunities to students in the Western region. Currently, nearly 23,000 students benefit from this WICHE program through increased access to undergraduate, graduate and professional programs.
With the growth in online course enrollments over the past several years, WICHE has launched the next generation of the student exchange programs—the Internet Course Exchange (ICE).
WICHE provides central coordination and serves as secretariat and treasurer to the Steering Board, which governs WICHE ICE and is composed of leaders from distance education and academic affairs departments at member institutions.
