The fall 2006 IPEDS Enrollment Survey reported a total of 15,741 first-time freshmen were enrolled in 28 public institutions across the state of New Mexico.* Total undergraduate enrollment, both part-time and full-time students, was 107,801 students.  New Mexico ranks #7 among WICHE states in terms of the total number of first-time freshmen, and #7 in terms of undergraduates enrolled, and in terms of the total number of Fall 2006 Cohort students (4,192) who transferred during the five-year period (2006-2010) within New Mexico, to other WICHE states, or to non-WICHE states.

A total of XXX fall 2006 cohort* students transferred within this state between 2006 and 2010 via four different pathways:

  • 2 yr institution to 2 yr institution = 0 or fewer than 20
  • 2 yr institution to 4 yr institution = 0 or fewer than 20
  • 4 yr institution to 2 yr institution = 0 or fewer than 20
  • 4 yr institution to 4 yr institution = 0 or fewer than 20

Data provided by the National Student Clearinghouse show the number of Fall 2006 Cohort students who transferred within the state each year from 2006-2010.

* The Fall 2006 cohort is made up of first-time students of any age who began their postsecondary studies in the fall of 2006, both full-time and part-time students, and excludes students who received any degree or certificate from a two- or four-year institution prior to 2006. The data set captures any change in a student’s institution of enrollment irrespective of the timing, direction or location of the move.
