RURAL MENTAL HEALTH GRAND ROUNDS WEB CAST

Promising Practices that Enhance the Rural Community through Treatment of Co-Occurring Disorders

Objectives:
1) Participants will learn the key components of the Bonneville County Mental Court
2) Participants will understand the challenges of running a Mental Health Court in a rural area.
3) Participants will learn the key treatment components Bonneville County Mental Health Court uses to treat clients with dual diagnosis.
4) Participants will learn how an ACT Team provides treatment to people in a rural Mental Health Court.

Randy Rodriquez has been in the Mental Health Field for 16 years. He has been the clinical supervisor for the ACT Team in Idaho Falls, ID for the past 2 ½  years. Prior to that, Mr. Rodriquez was a clinician at the State Hospital in Idaho for 7 years and worked as a psychotherapist for 2 years in a community hospital in Idaho Falls. He received his Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kansas and his bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Idaho.

Eric Olson is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.  He has worked as a Clinical Supervisor for the Dept. of Health and Welfare for 7 years. Previous to that, he worked primarily as an ACT Team supervisor and coordinated discharges from the State Psychiatric hospitals. He has been working as the MH Court coordinator since it's inception in 2002.  Mr. Olson worked closely with Judge Brent Moss to develop the first MH court in the State of Idaho and this court has developed into a National Learning Site through the Bureau of Justice Assistance and the Council of State Governments. He has also worked as a therapist in many other areas in the community.

This web cast is produced to meet a range of continuing education needs for professional and allied mental health staff currently working in rural and frontier areas.

Participation will qualify for the provision of CME and CEU hours and will be archived on the WICHE web site enabling those unable to view the live broadcast to view the training session at any time afterward.

There will be no cost to the training consumer for viewing the web cast live or asynchronously, and minimal costs for those wishing to obtain CD formats.

For those wishing to obtain CD formats of the Grand Rounds series, costs are as follows:
1 web cast (per CD) - $10.00
each additional web cast (on same CD) - $8.00
all 4 web casts - $35.00 (to be sent out after the last web cast)
