Public Policy and Higher Education in the West: A Tuition and Fee Update
Conclusion


The continuous upward trend in resident undergraduate tuition and fees has the potential of burdening needy students, but students now have additional benefits through federal tax credits, higher maximum Pell Grant awards, and lower interest rates on student loans. State policies need to be carefully crafted in light of such new realities to effectively support access to and affordability of higher education.
