| Conclusion
The process of change is slowed by the variety of traditions and conceptions that characterize the college environment. While there is much talk of partnerships and rededication to new aims and purposes, the culture of the university is highly resistant to change. Even so, opportunities were evident in the strong positive currents that flowed through all of the sessions. Many of the experiments that are underway represent ideas that would have been inconceivable a decade ago. Most of all, the strong commitment to responsiveness, collaboration, and change that was present throughout suggests that something important is happening. One could leave the Forum certain that although the problems are real, the commitment to access and change is stronger than ever. The inventiveness that this impels may take access off the endangered list. |
