1998 Legislative Overview
(Part 1)
Governance
Arizona
legislation continues both the State Board of Directors for Community
Colleges and the Commission for Postsecondary Education for ten years.
Arizona's
State Board of Directors for Community Colleges received a two-year appropriation
to establish a new community college campus.
Legislation
provides for the state superintendent to serve as an ex-officio member
of Idaho's State Board of Education.
Legislation
in New Mexico restricts the creation of new campuses
and establishes a review and approval process by the Commission on Higher
Education and the legislature for creating public campuses or institutions.
In
Washington, governing boards will now have student representation.
