1998 Legislative Overview
(Part 1)
Faculty
The
governor of Arizona vetoed an appropriations note that
that would have required incentive funding for a performance bonus plan
for the university system; faculty productivity factors were to be included
in the implementation plan.
In
South Dakota, the 1997 general appropriations bill authorized
the Regents to distribute faculty salary increases at its discretion without
regard for the collective bargaining statutes. The court, however, ordered
the Regents to negotiate with the union on the distribution of salary
increases.
Community
college funding in Wyoming will raise employee salaries
to 90 percent of those of comparative groups.
