Training Overview
A majority of Americans with mental health problems, such as depression, receive treatment from their primary care physicians. This is particularly true for Americans living in rural or frontier areas, where there are fewer mental health clinicians and services. However, primary care physicians must often face the challenge of providing depression treatment with limited resources and time. This can make it difficult to receive training on new depression care techniques. This training uses internet-based distance learning technology to reduce costs of traveling to similar presentations.
This is a free training and completion of it will earn you CMEs . |
Training Content
This training is meant to supplement knowledge of depression treatment that primary care physicians already possess. It advances knowledge by describing state-of-the-art approaches to depression care.
The training will have two parts: 1) core content and 2) an overview of evidence-based practices for treating depression in primary care.
Core Content
This project will cover core content from the MacArthur Initiative on Depression & Primary Care, which includes 4 basic components:1. Recognition & Diagnosis2. Patient Education 3. Treatment 4. Monitoring
